My husband refers to our three crazy boys, ages 11, 9, and 4 as the “biscuit brothers.”  I’m not sure why, exactly - it just seems to fit.  Unlike a biscuit recipe that’s been handed down for generations, though, my boys didn’t come with a recipe.  Each one is distinctly different, and I’m learning that the “ingredients” I use to mold and shape them must continually be re-measured.  This website is about my journey to discover the best “recipe” for raising our children.  My husband and I have been incredibly blessed to have had some wonderful families share parenting help and advice with us.  We love sharing those stories with others, and especially have a passion for helping families grow closer together as they grow closer to God.

I love the way food brings people together, too.  People from all different walks of life, with little in common, can always find something to talk about when they bite into a fabulous dessert or enticing meal.  You know that expression of pure joy... the way people close their eyes as they bite into something delicious and declare, “Oh, wow.” or simply, “Mmmm...”?   I love to see that smile.  I love that when a friend or neighbor is ill or going through a hard time, despite my lack of wisdom or words to help them, I can at least bring a brief bit of comfort to them.  I can let them know they are loved.  Yes, it may be just a pie or a box of cookies, but for me, that’s love.

I love the way food brings my family together around the table, sharing stories, laughing, and talking about life. I hope your family, too, will find feelings of love, comfort, and togetherness, as you join me on my journey, testing new recipes for both food and family!
